i never said it was bling, or the best looking armour, that is and always will be personal preference. I never got it till HoM cos didnt like it. Its now sitting in storage un runed and not worn - but thats me.
HOWEVER, some people love it, not for the status but for the fact they like how it looks, and the pride of having ur toon kitted in the most expensive gws armour.

AND it is way better than that bronze spear lol, emoting people with that is just painful

What's the status of your Honor and Resilience monuments? Completing FoW while getting your armor will get you a statue for your Honor monument, which may be worth 1-3 points if it brings you to 5, 10, 15, etc. statues. The armor could be worth more than one point if it brings your Resilience monument up to 3, 5, or 7 sets. So you may very well get as many points from an FoW armor set as from the Zaishen statue.

But, I agree with Clobimon that your best strategy might be to wait and work on other accomplishments for a while before deciding. Get the low-hanging fruit first and see where you stand after that.

As a 50/50 GWAMM:
If you have money on you already, go with the armor. It's a one-time spending, the most expensive thing in the game with standarised price in ectos (so counting minipets out).
On the other hand, you can always buy 1-2 ZKeys, you can farm Balth faction via JQ/RA/AB/ZE and get your keys. Moreso, 200 keys is 1000k, or 1kk, while obsidian armor is 1,2-1,5kk with the current prices, making it more expensive, thus more likely better to buy all pieces at once if you have the money.

Short: ZRank can be achieved over time, Obsidian is a one-time spending, thus go with the armor if you're heading for 50/50 rather than 45/50 (but then you need neither ZRank nor Obsi).

First of: What is your own goal? 30/50? 50/50? or somewhere in between?

If your goal is 30/50, you don't need zaishen or obby armor to get it. You might wanna consider spending your money on something like weapons or mini's

If your goal is 50/50, it doesn't really matter which one you pick, because you're going to need the other one anyway. The easiest thing to do then would be to farm/save money again (unless you rather go for r3 glad then farming the money)

If your goal is 'somewhere in between', It's probably best to take zaishen, because it gives the most points out of the two.

Thanks for the response, and I fixed the link so it should be working (thanks for the heads up).

I'm actually at around 115 for Zaishen right now I think... (I've gotten a few zkeys over time).

I like the idea of waiting, it's not like Ectos are going to suddenly drop in value, and if they do... well, it will be easier to get FoW armor anyway.

I'll just continue to grind titles, maybe work on RA and see how it goes.

I can always finish Vanquishing and make some more money....

That's the dilemma: if I want 50/50, Obsidian is the obvious choice (it's required). If I will settle for 45, then the zrank will get me 3 points for cheaper. (But I will never be able to get Obsidian if I spend that money now).

After a look at your HoM, i'd suggest you fill your minipets, torm weapon and vabbian armor first, getting hero armors, getting Balth faction and grinding titles in the meanwhile. Once PvP title + Obsi + maybe something more are the last things you need, then you can decide.

Ontopic: I'd definetely go for the Zaishen title. It gains you an emote (might not care about that though), it's a nice gamble, might receive good stuff (I never did =P) to make some of the money back you put into it. Plus the fact that it gives 3 points, while Obsidian armour only gives you 1 point. I know which one I'd choose.

I actually have a Torm shield on my character, just not dedicated yet (I've been doing some power trading: Buy shield for 21 e, sell for 25 e. Nothing serious).

Hero armor is a pain... for the life of me I cannot complete Glint's challenge. I'm going to see if some guildies can help...

But good advice... I think I'll wait and save Obsidian and PvP for last.

I have both, but for me obsidian has much more value attached to it, because after playing to it for 2/3 years when I bought it, it was a reward I could see all the time, and I liked the set of course. I also have ztitle 3 that was 50/50 bought/played to. Never use it because its absolutely terrible and everyone has a spear nowadays lol and I dont really think much of it, and already have pvp titles. If you are going to pick one, i'd say pick one that would have a meaning attached to it for you. Dont pick it based on whats leet or w/e because nobody gives a shit and tormented/chaos gloves/obsi/voltaic is all a dime a dozen nowadays.

If I was you though, I'd do some RA, particularly on zq days. Either you'll break down and buy ztitle after 20 or so keys earnt, or somewhere around g2 you'll probably have made enough keys and can get both

Don't forget that by going for r3 zaishen, you do have a chance of getting a good drop. With luck, you'd be able to get r3 zaishen and some (if not all) of the FoW armor.

I got the ztitle (level 3--almost to 4)...but am still working on the armor.

I would go for the title--you can get balthazar points in fa/jq which you can trade for the zkeys (did some of this too), and some of the items you get from the chest can be resold for a pretty decent profit (or to those working on drunkard and sweets).

OBBY! Zaishen Mission will always be there. Ecto/shard prices are only going to continue inflating with the way people are freaking out to buy FoW armor. Get the armor or it'll cost you more later. Zaishen keys can be farmed so easily with either Zaishen Missions or PVP.

Armor armor armor or you will be spending more on it later. Also. With the Zaishen chest, you can open it once or twice today from Zcoins or balth faction. And maybe once or twice tomorrow. Out of those 2-4 drops you may get something worth a bit of money. Sell it, get more keys, rinse repeat. Z keys come easy. Climbing ecto/shard prices don't come easy.

FA Like a mad man (you get lots of keys from the faction) cash in other faction for Jade or amber sell to vendor or player (prices are high due to HOM) - Buy more keys with it.

A. You work on the Sucksan / kursuck title (which is not hard to reach they have many weekend events for double faction.) and get the Zaishen title

B. When you buy FOW armor you can look at all characters in it. In HOM which is really cool.

I need the armor to but I am so far away from having th coin (working on weapons currently)

Sunspear elite is a nice cheap armor

Vabbian will set you back a bit but nothing like Obsidian

Thats 2 points right there

Plan on some serious AFK time in the rings

Fortune and misfortune are easy to get just lots of afk time

Plan a session of serious punch out for a survivior (you may save some coin you get from drops) May want to start one now since some of the halloween quests are easy adn high exp.

I lucked out on the Zkeys back when we could pick winners from the tournament

PS Sorrows furnace is still coooool did it 2x last week for the title good fun

Eh, wrong.
If you only now managed to get enough gold for obsidian armor, there is simply NO WAY for you to get ANY normal PvP title to HoM status.

For Gladiator you would need a good synch guild if don't plan to get it done in exponential time

For Hero, you would need rank to get rank. (Okay, okay, you could find a startup guild [good luck with that btw] or grind yourself to 6 with random/uwfarm ways

)

For Champion, well, you won't get Champion.

Btw, events are your friends, got 12 stacks ToT bags from quests on a couple different characters alone, thats 1/4 obsidian right there and I didn't even try to farm them. Also, nickolas, get the items and sell them, thats a quick 20k every monday, ~ 1 obsidian a year just from that.

Don't forget that you can get Zkeys by trading Zcoins as well. I believe that it's one gold Zcoin per Zkey. So if you are doing Zquests anyways, it may be a natural.

In practicality, go with Z3.
For presige however, I see a lot of Z3 or higher (same with gladiator), so FoW will impress the ladies more.

I think the tie breaking questions should be A. how does your profession look in Obby? If you are a rit, go z; if you are a para, go Obby
and B. how often do you PvP? If you do some occasional JQ then you can get some Z-keys while collecting Jade/Amber for Elite Faction armor (working on 4 pts. at the same time).

It's all a matter of what's the path of least resistance.
